Giovanni Pinosio

I've always found working with iron wire fascinating for what it allows me to
experience: meditation, waiting, silence, correlation, weaving and above all the
musical quality of a line that is modelled in a harmonious and seamless way.

For the project, Giovanni Pinosio created a wire sculpture that captures the movement and lines of the human body in space. The work is dynamic and ever-expanding, with spontaneous poses and interlacements reflecting a dialogue between the figures. The artistic process exists at the intersection of art, craft, and design, marked by meticulous attention to detail and a sensitivity to the fluidity of human movement. What matters is the motion, captured in its unfolding and articulation, allowing the work to be read not only in space but also through time.
Giovanni Pinosio
Italy
Giovanni Pinosio was born in Mestre, Italy. He graduated in Sculpture from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice in 2017. During his studies, he explored figure drawing, which he later translated into sculpture using iron wire, a material he sees as both strong and delicate, merging drawing and sculpting, and allowing forms to interact with space.
Personal work
His work originates from the urge to give shape to the emotions he experiences when singing. This introspective path led him to investigate the idea of “voice”; its nature, substance, and presence. From this research emerged concepts such as lightness, vibration, emptiness, and air. Traditional materials like clay and plaster couldn't fully express this, but a breakthrough came when he removed the clay from a sculpture, revealing the metal wire inside. That moment marked the beginning of a new sculptural language. Wire became his tool for drawing in space, a way to dissect and reconstruct bodies, objects, and imagined worlds. For Pinosio, each line is like a voice: emerging from the body, transforming into air, and dissolving into the surrounding space.
