LOVEBOAT

Giulia Bortoloni

Giulia Bortolini sees the world with childlike curiosity, turning the
everyday into something fantastical, joyful, and unexpectedly special.
LOVEBOAT
LOVEBOAT is an irreverent yet meaningful creation, crafted from hand-painted Ferrero Kinder Surprises toys from the 1990s, which the artist personally collected as a young girl. This artwork embodies the pure, innocent love of childhood, reinterpreted through the lens of adulthood. It captures the joy of discovery and the wonder that define a child's world, where reality seamlessly merges with imagination, and happiness is effortlessly found. As a committed animist, the artist believes in the inherent energy and spirit of these inanimate objects. Their vibrant colours and unique personalities are intended to infuse viewers with joy and laughter.
LOVEBOAT offers these childhood companions a new opportunity to excite, entertain, and inspire. It serves as a playful reminder not to take life too seriously, emphasizing that we are here to have fun, not merely to survive. After all, what better way to keep playing and enjoying life than through creativity?

Italy
Giulia Bortolini was born and raised in the Dolomites before moving first to Milan and then to London, where she graduated in Fashion Business at the Marangoni Institute. It was in London that her creativity emerged, and she began exploring photography. In 2012, she founded The Skolz: a genuine source of inspirational photography based on the idea that everything can be interesting if we embrace the world around us with irony and enjoyment. Seeing the world through the innocence and curiosity of a child transforms everyday life into a fantastic and entertaining journey, where the common becomes special, the ordinary appears extraordinary, and the stranger becomes a friend. This apparent spontaneity is the result of profound aesthetic reflection and a refined use of colour.
