Other ways of looking

Olivia Busse

“I explore different techniques and materials, always
influenced by the power of colour and form.”
Other ways of looking
Receiving a pair of glasses to intervene inspired Olivia Busse to reflect on the paradox of visual arts and the challenge of vision that glasses represent. She decided to explore alternative ways of seeing through these glasses, views shaped by colour, distortion, and the idea of blocking sight to stimulate the other four senses. Other ways of looking are designed to be worn, not just admired as a unique artwork. They become windows into an immersive aesthetic experience.
Olivia Busse
Argentina
Olivia Busse lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She holds a degree in Visual Arts from Universidad del Museo Social Argentino (UMSA). She has attended workshops in watercolour and drawing, and led training in photography and lighting. Her work seeks to delve into the abstract and expressive image as a way to gather silences, extending the introspective experience to the viewer. Today, she proposes small aesthetic experiences seeking to actively involve the viewer in her work.
Personal work
Alongside her personal practice, Busse teaches visual arts at El Blanco, Centro de Experimentaciones Artísticas, once her father's studio. The centre focuses on sharing and expanding knowledge of crafts linked to art, fostering small communities around practice, knowledge, and technique. In 2020, she was recognized as a “Young Promise” by the Argentinian Association of Visual Artists (AAVRA).
