Bettina Brizuela

“I address topics related to everyday life and domesticity [...] My
ideas emerge, and I take the time to understand and realise them.
With time, like a jigsaw puzzle, the pieces come together.”
UNTITLED
The starting point for Bettina Brizuela's exploration of the eye as a pictorial motif was her grandmother's blue eyes, an intimate spark that ignited a deeper investigation. In her artwork, the eye becomes a mirror of human emotion: love and hatred, joy and anger, tenderness and tension. It is both witness and messenger, the gaze of the past and the present cast upon ourselves.

Personal work
In her work, Bettina Brizuela explores themes of everyday life and domesticity, often cathartic, always reflective of the world around her. Her ideas surface gradually, shaped by time and attention. Lately, she seeks spontaneity, even if it disrupts the rhythm of creation. For Brizuela, art and life are inseparable. She works across different media and materials, allowing each idea to find its own form. Her practice draws on the urban landscape of Asunción, its people, objects, and daily life, transforming the streets into a site of observation and an endless source of inspiration.
