They, too, are seeing the sea. They, too, are lonely

Dimitra Zervou

Dimitra Zervou sculpts memory and time, blending
city and nature to rethink how we see the world.
They, too, are seeing the sea. They, too, are lonely.
Salir del Mar is an invitation to experience the deep connection between humans and nature. When we dive into the sea, we enter a space that transcends our daily struggles. For a fleeting moment, as we rise from the waves, we feel a release from our worries. This piece captures that feeling. The glasses are a reminder of the relief we seek at the shore, where the sea offers us comfort and clarity. Diving becomes an act of letting go, allowing the tides to carry our weight, even if just for a moment.
But this moment also asks something of us. If the sea heals us, how do we give back? Salir del Mar invites us to reflect on our shared responsibility, to care for what cares for us. By wearing this artwork, we're reminded of the reciprocity between people and nature, and our role in protecting the waters that offer us peace.

GREECE
Dimitra Zervou is an Athens-based artist working primarily with sculpture and installation. Holding an Integrated MA from the Athens School of Fine Arts, she investigates the fluid nature of memory and its transformation over time. Her practice creates spaces where reality and imagination intersect, inviting viewers to reconsider how memory shapes our perception of existence.
Personal work
Rooted in the cultural and historical layers of Greece, Zervou’s work engages with temporality and the intangible traces left by experience. Through her nuanced approach, she crafts narratives that unfold between the past and present, exploring how time continuously reshapes meaning and understanding.
Her sculptures and installations act as vessels for these dialogues, offering a conceptual lens that expands beyond everyday reality, encouraging a deeper reflection on the ephemeral and ever-changing essence of memory.
